The Southern Health and Social Services Board (SHSSB) in Northern Ireland carried out a review of availability of sexual health information and advice for young people living in its area. This identified that young people, particularly living in rural areas, did not have sufficient access to relevant and accurate information relating to their sexual health and behaviour.

As a result the SHSSB, supported by the Armagh and Dungannon Health Action Zone, has developed the "Cool Sex Info" website. The site contains sexual health information and advice and points them to people, places or organisations where they can obtain further help or assistance in areas such as pregnancy, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases. It has been developed with the assistance of young people, parents and guardians as well as teachers, health promotion specialists and other health providers.
